Substance Use Prevention
The Substance Use Prevention Services (SUPS) provides evidence-based prevention services to reduce the alcohol rates and the non-medical use of prescription drugs amongst 6th-12th graders in the service area.
Service Area: Elk Grove Township, Hanover Township, Palatine Township, and Schaumburg Township
Direct services include:

Implementing an evidence-based curriculum in middle and/or high schools in the service area

Implementing two communication campaigns addressing the contributing factors related to past 30-day alcohol use and youth vaping prevention.

Recruiting schools to participate in the 2020 Illinois Youth Survey (IYS)

Creating a Youth Advisory Council (YAC)comprised of students in District 211

Conducting two activities that focus on alcohol and opioid misuse prevention during SAMHSA’s National Prevention Week

Raising awareness on local drug take-back programs (DEA’s Drug Take Back Day)

Developing a resource guide, approved by YAC members
